As noted, we sent a representative to inspect the steps in front of your cottage #8 on Hen Island. The inspector informed us that although a rope handrail with wooden posts had recently been installed, the railing did not meet code for a number of reasons. Additionally, the actual stairs are rusted and rotting along the main stringers. Many of the risers are also rusted through or missing, as a result of age and decay. (This compromises the integrity of the stairs.) It was his recommendation that the stairs in question be replaced or removed to avoid injury to users.
